Children's Book Illustration
It's been a fun but challenging project so far. I really like working in more of a painterly, children's book illustrator style and I like creating characters to go with the different personalities but the story requires a lot of characters and scenes in hospital wards with a lot of beds and patients will all manner of maladies so it's been more time consuming than I anticipated. I think it will look really nice when it's all completed and I'm looking forward to seeing it in print.

My First Appearance in MAD Magazine
My first appearance as one of the 'Usual Gang of Idiots' in MAD Magazine came as the writer of a piece called 'Celebrity Yu-Gi-Oh'. One day when my kids were playing with their Yu-Gi-Oh cards and I came up with plays on the last names of a slew of celebrities whose last name began with "O" the first one being Bill O'Reilly who then became 'Yu-Gi-O'Reilly'. There were a few extras that didn't make the final cut like 'Yu-Gi-Ono' (Yoko Ono), Yu-Gi-O'Brien (Conan O'Brien) Yu-Gi-Olberman, and Yu-Gi-Owen (Wilson)
It was a real thrill to see my name in the same magazine that warped the minds of so many kids of my generation and where so many of my idols like Jack Davis, Mort Drucker, Al Jaffee, Don Martin, Will Elder, Harvey Kurtzman and so many others showed the world what level cartooning and satire could sink to and to have my first piece illustrated by the lovely and talented Tom Richmond was the icing on the cake.

FDNY T-Shirt Design
My dad was a New York City Firefighter for twenty years, most of which were spent at LADDER 126 in South Jamaica in Queens, NY. The brave members of Ladder 126 are known as the Princeton Street Tigers so I decided to create a design in memory of everyone that's ever served in that fire house.
I've also set up a shop at CAFE PRESS for anyone interested in purchasing merchandise with this design, I will be donating the proceeds Uniformed Firefighter's Association of New York

U.S.M.C. Marine Bulldog
One day I was thinking about a cool t-shirt I had in high school that had a U.S. Marine Bulldog on it that was given to me by the older brother of one of my best friends who was in the Marine Corps. and I decided I wanted to create a cool Marine Bulldog of my own.
I was never in the service but my brother was in the Air Force during the Gulf War back in Operation Desert Storm and my dad was in the Army and various and assorted uncles were in one branch or another so I did this t-shirt character design and even opened a Cafe Press Store where you can get a shirt or mug or other things they offer.
I haven't decided what to do with the proceeds from any sales but most likely I will donate them to some sort of organization to help care for veterans when they return home. One organization my dad was involved with was the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association because he was a veteran and he was paralyzed but not during combat (he was hurt on the job as a NYC Firefighter which I'll post about at a later date)

Cereal Killer
I did these for the fun of it (I have a thing for breakfast cereal parodies) for a website called I LOVE CARTOONS that contains a collection of cartoon characters as drawn by various and assorted cartoon artists. I do a lot of storyboard and animatic work for General Mills cereals like Lucky Charms and Trix so after drawing the characters for so long I started thinking of ways to make fun of them and combining them with movies like Army of Darkness and The Matrix. I have ideas for a few more so hopefully you'll seem them soon.

The Fox, the Goose and the Sack of Corn

Here is an editorial illustration that was done for William H. Sadlier publishers based on the classic riddle The Fox, the Goose and the Sack of Corn.
The Fox, the Goose and the Sack of Corn
A man went on a trip with a fox, a goose and a sack of corn. He came upon a stream which he had to cross and found a tiny boat to use to cross the stream. He could only take himself and one other - the fox, the goose, or the corn - at a time. He could not leave the fox alone with the goose or the goose alone with the corn. How does he get all safely over the stream?'
Answer: Take the goose over first and come back. Then take the fox over and bring the goose back. Now take the corn over and come back alone to get the goose. Take the goose over and the job is done!

Flyin' Hawaiian Logo Design
This was a logo design titled THE FLYIN' HAWAIIAN done for a private client who's husband was being deployed to Iraq. Their Humvee unit was called the Flyin' Hawaiian's and she wanted an image of a pineapple in a Humvee to put on a shirt for him to wear while he was over there.

Support Your Local PTA!

Here is a PTA Poster that was done for one of the local schools here in our school district.
It was a fun project to work on because they didn't have all of the ideas in place so I got to decide how best to try and represent some of the concepts for each letter and idea they were trying to get across.
